FAQ

The 4K decentralized ultra-high-definition multi-picture KVM encoder-decoder integrated machine supports LCD and LED screen splicing. HDMI input/output supports up to 4K. The single output screen can be divided to support a maximum of 16 pictures, and supports PIP (Picture in Picture) overlay display mode, as well as KVM console functions. It is also compatible with other products in the same series and is very suitable for large-scale applications such as command centers, monitoring centers, and large audio-visual control centers.

Q: What is a KVM Codec and what core functions does it perform in a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) system?

A: A KVM Codec (short for "Coder-Decoder") is a critical component in KVM systems that encodes and decodes audio/video/control signals to enable seamless transmission between a user’s workstation and multiple connected devices (e.g., servers, computers, or peripherals). Its core functions include:

Signal Encoding: Converts raw video (e.g., 4K/8K) and audio signals from source devices into compressed formats (e.g., H.264, H.265) for efficient transmission over IP or dedicated cables.

Low-Latency Decoding: Reconstructs encoded signals at the user end with minimal delay (<1ms typically) to ensure real-time responsiveness for keyboard/mouse inputs.

High-Resolution Support: Enables transmission of 4K@60Hz or 8K@30Hz video with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, preserving color accuracy and detail for graphics-intensive tasks.

Multi-Device Compatibility: Works with diverse interfaces (HDMI, DisplayPort, USB 3.1) and protocols (DMX, RS-232) to integrate legacy and modern devices into a unified KVM ecosystem.
