Q: What is an HDMI Sender, and what role does it play in a home entertainment setup?
A: An HDMI Sender is a device that transmits HDMI signals (e.g., from a TV box, game console, or laptop) to a compatible HDMI Receiver (e.g., a TV or monitor) wirelessly or via cables. Its primary role is to eliminate the need for long HDMI cables, enabling flexible placement of source devices and displays.
Q: How does a wireless HDMI Sender transmit signals without losing quality?
A: A wireless HDMI Sender converts the digital HDMI signal into a high-frequency wireless format (e.g., 5GHz Wi-Fi or proprietary protocols like WHDI). The Receiver then decodes this signal back to pure HDMI, ensuring minimal latency (<1ms for premium models) and preserving 4K/8K resolution, HDR, and audio (e.g., Dolby Atmos).
Q: What’s the difference between an HDMI Sender and an HDMI Extender?
A: While both move HDMI signals, an HDMI Sender is specifically designed for wireless transmission (focus on "sending" from source to receiver). An HDMI Extender often includes wired solutions (e.g., CAT6 cables) to extend signals over longer distances (up to 100m for wired) and may support both wireless and wired modes.
Pro tip: For 4K/8K streaming, choose a Sender with HDCP 2.3 support to avoid compatibility issues with copy-protected content (e.g., Netflix, Blu-ray).
